I do not encourage lying.
It is wrong to lie.
Something interesting I learned - deception is wrong in only one way while lying is wrong in more than one way. One does not need to gain one's trust to deceive someone. Deception involves the observer deceiving himself through his own assumptions and misdirection. Lying on the other hand requires for one to lead another person on - and so the fault lies with the person setting up the trap.
Thus, lying is wrong in two ways - gain one's trust, and breaking it thereafter.
An action (or a series of actions) may be wrong, but it could be the most moral path to take.
So, condone lying only when it is moral. (i.e. white lies)
