so, with advent of a new decade, I guess our new year resolutions must be extra special.
didn't have a habit of making them until you know, last year.
2009 changed me alot, just like how 2007 and 2008 did.
so I guess I'll learn the mistakes I comitted and make my new year resolutions from there.
I mellowed out a lot. (haha yes admit it, I'm no longer angsty.)
so, in no order of importance:
1) I must not underestimate the power of emotions.
2) I should stop being all stern and serious, because its bad for my health. (though i really see the need to be like that)
3) I should stop being so defensive of myself. (yes that should have been a resolution since many years ago)
4) I should stop thinking that much, alot of white hair already.
5) I need to be happy, there's alot of bullshit out there for me to face.
6) Grow closer to God. I keep telling myself that I have to do this and that but its not working, so I guess I'll have to do something else about it.
7) *a very private resoltuion*
8) Be more disciplined (this includes reducing the use of vulgarities tyvm) and help someone out when they really need it.
9) Have a better memory (and start remembering birthdays)
10) Be more confident and sincere, stop being so hypocritical and stand up for what I think is right.
11) Stop taking everything for granted. (I don't know how to go about this one but I guess I'll figure it out somehow)
11 resolutions for a better 2010!
Anyway, I have a lot of things on hand.
Letters that I promised myself to write, and you know, stuff like that.
I should stop sending New Year Smses because they jam the lines.
Just be a nicer person.
Everyone will appreciate it.
so anyway,
Happy New Year.
Have I finished well this year?
that was a post from a year ago.
oh well, time really flies huh.
havn't written here for a very long time as well.
a summary of all that I've been doling this holiday:
Annual Camp, 24 - 27 November 2010
I skipped the last day of school for the camp. hahaha.
Anyway, the camp was good.
What amazing grace God has given us. haha.
though I wish that i could have done more in helping in the planning of the camp.
sian.
If I have to be really honest, havn't really learnt much from the camp.
Though one takeaway from the camp, is that I will have to be in control of situations if I were to be spearheading the planning, and not let people do whatever they want.
freedom is good, but too much freedom is unneccessary.
Camp Temasek V, 2 - 7 December 2010
Held at Pasir Leba Camp, it was the first time I attended such a huge camp. (huge as in, facilities huge and number of campers huge. haha 600++ campers don't play play)
Anyway, working with Sir Caleb under messing department was good, learnt some things, like crowd controlling skills! HAHAHAH.
Also learnt the impoirtance of being strict with our standards.
cannot allow for screw-ups to happen.
got to know other great people like Sir Jeremy, Sir Kevin and Sir Andy through messing.
Of course, got to know Mr Alex Wong, Saul sir, and many other fellow primers. haha.
They are all great capable people.
Of course, not forgetting Col Richard Tan, Mr Poh Leong Berg, Mr Peter Ong and Boon Chun Sir.
Oh and Ms Chan Oi Lam who used to be a TJC Councilor hahaha.
This camp has also taught me about how conflicts will always arise, but we must bite the bullet and to continue doing what we set out to do,
The last thing we want is for the working comm to break down and the camp to fail.
Working with Admin Department for a bit has also taught me how backup plans are important. LOL.
Hiccups here and there are inevitable, but what we should keep in mind is the big picture. He will help us :)
Glad that the camp was a success, and that the campers had fun :)
BB Share-A-Gift (BB SG) Car Flag off , 11 December 2010
One takeaway? - Time is of the essence. We don't want to make volunteers wait because of our inefficiency.
This was quite a bad day.
I guess I must be really tired and worn out huh?
Anyway, met the 70th and 77th Coy primers on the way to the F1 Pit.
haha heng ah, if not I confirm get lost one.
after all the flagging off, went back to BB HQ and kinda lost my temper.
Come'on lah, must stay rational lah sian.
screwed up day but must pick ourselves up and move on, alright?
everyone makes mistakes, but we must make sure we don't repeat them.
BB SG 2010 Warehouse Duty,10 - 15 December 2010
Being Overall-In-Charge for 5 days was really not easy.
But I must admit I did a pretty good job for a first timer heheh.
This opportunity has taught me the need to give clear instructions.
also, this has taught me that the role of the OIC is to see the big picture, and to designate roles and duties. sure, it is okay to help cover for people when they need help, but try not to do too much by yourself.
Primers Challenge,26 - 29 December 2010
Held at Gopeng, Perak.
a lot of firsts this time.
first time i absailed from a waterfall, first time i did white water rafting.
also explored two caves.
haha. so glad i took geography as a subject.
anyway, the new year is coming.
i fufilled most of my resolutions. haha.
all but 1, 6, 7, and 11. ):
and maybe 9. haha. still cannot remember birthdays!! arghhhh.
anyway, i'm really glad i've became a happier person.
still moody, but definitely happier. haha.
people say 2010 has been a bad year for them.
i beg to differ.
its been such a blessed year; I've so many things to give thanks for. :)
24/10, TJC Guitar, and of course, the many many small things that made this year happy.
and maybe, just maybe, returning to 48th to help out wasn't such a bad idea afterall.
I will have to do more to help out though.
proactive!!!
alright, I don't think I will be setting resolutions this year though.
they always fail. haha.
But maybe.... maybe just one.
1) Try my best.
Things to look forward to next year!
1) Orientation Chapter XI!
2) SYF Central Judging - Guitar Ensemble 2011
3) NYAA Gold Application
4) President's Award Application
5) more church stuff, I hope.
6) Maybe A Levels.
7) get fitter? haha idk.
alright, to get my momentum going, i shall start. :)
did I finish well this year?
byeee.
